The Waterfall Collector
What is it about waterfalls that fascinate us? After all, it's just water flowing over rocks. Why do we feel compelled to visit them over and over again. They are all unique, each one is different. Why do we find them enchanting, romantic and even mysterious? These photos are a few of my favourites. More will be added, as and when I take them. Suggestions for more to visit will be most welcome.
High Force
A spectacular waterfall when in spate, at which time a second waterfall appears on the right of the main fall. As it is near the road, the fall is easily reached. Take a short path opposite the High Force hotel down through woods to the fall. There is an admission charge of £1 to view the fall. There was a great storm in 1992 and all the existing paths were washed away and had to be completely rebuilt. It is possible to reach the top of the fall by turning right and climbing some(steep) steps. The fall is approximately 70ft high.
