View from First Terrace
The two rows of cottages are known as the First Terrace and the Second Terrace. These buildings were originally warehouses for storage as Sunderland Point was the port for Lancaster in the 18th Century. It is reputed that the first bale of cotton to arrive in Britain from the West Indies was landed here.
