Staithes

Staithes

In 1745 James Cook arrived in Staithes as a lad to be an apprentice to a local draper, and it was this quaint hotch-potch of a fishing port, with it's rugged coastal scenery, which inspired his love of the sea. The tightly packed cottages spill down the steep cliff sides, fitting into the slopes wherever space allows.
