Autumn in Borrowdale
31 walkers joined Peter on his 'Autumn Tints' walk along the shores of Derwentwater, alongside the River Derwent in Borrowdale, to the hamlets of Grange and Rosthwaite, then a steep climb out of Borrowdale to the beauty spot known as Watendlath with it's picturesque tarn. Then it was a walk back through woodland, with it's magnificent autumn colours (even though it's not officially autumn till November 15th) to the superb viewpoint known as Surprise View with it's magnificent panorama of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake beyond, then to Ashness Bridge (Is this the most photographed bridge in Britain?) and then a walk back along the shore of the lake.
The wooded hill in the centre of the photo is Castle Crag.
