The Rigg, Haweswater

I came here to take a photo of this view. As I climbed the hill up the track of the Old Corpse Road, the view behind me all misted over and it began to rain (again). I had my waterproofs on and I wasn't bothered but thought to myself, am I going to be robbed of this view having come all this way? I sheltered in this ruined barn until the rain had passed (about 15 minutes) and then I was able to carry on.

Tho Old Corpse Road was the way along which the dead, from Mardale Green were carried, strapped to the back of horses, for interment at Shap, eight hilly miles distant. This practice ceased in 1729 with the building of Mardale Church and the granting of a right of burial in a graveyard adjoining.
