Mill Gill Force

Mill Gill Force

This spectacular waterfall is in attractive woodland a short walk from the village of Askrigg. The footpath gives easy access right to the foot of the falls. Good clear photos may be taken without anything obscurring the view. Don't bother seeking out Whitfield Gill Force which is higher up the valley as it is not possible to see the fall from below. A very muddy path takes you high above the valley floor so you can look down on it from above but there are far too many trees in the way even without the leaves on. There are some smaller falls lower down near a footbridge that are worth a visit and the path continues over the river to access the other side of the valley.
