An awesome eerie ruin of the 14th and 15th centuries, set in a lonely spot. Associated with the de Soulis, The Douglases and Mary Queen of Scots. Partly restored in the 19th century. Hermitage Castle has a history filled with intrigue, murders, trysts, torture and treason.
