Church Interiors

This is something I have become interested in within the last couple of years. The interiors of churches are very difficult to light evenly due to there being great contrasts of light. They are usually poorly lit but also bright sunlight pours in and causes some areas to be overexposed also. None of these photos have been created using flash but taken by a technique of taking a number of exposures (usually 5 in my case) and merging them on the computer. Then the highlights, midtones and shadows are 'tweaked' to give a pleasing result.

If anyone knows of any old or interesting interiors please let me know. For the moment I'm trying to avoid the big cathedrals etc as there are too many people about.
