Scottish Borders and Northumberland

I had a very enjoyable four days away in April in the Scottish Borders and returned home via Northumbria. The weather was dry and sunny for three of the four days but nippy. Below is a full list of all the places I visited and photographed. I didn’t manage to see everything on my itinerary as some places were quite a distance from each other. The Scottish Borders are certainly a place I’d visit again as the scenery was stunning and it was also very quiet too…..apart from those bloody bagpipes!

Langholm, Whita Hill to view the Sir John Malcolm memorial and also the Macdiarmid Memorial. Hermitage Castle in Liddesdale. Kelso. Smailholm Tower. Dryburgh Abbey. William Wallace Monument. Scot’s View. Leaderfoot Viaduct. Melrose and Melrose Abbey. Baron’s Folly, Waterloo Monument. Mausoleum on Ancrum Moor. Jedburgh. Mary Queen of Scots house in Jedburgh and the Abbey. Countryside around Roxburgh and Floors Castle. Rule Brittania Monument. Hume Castle, Greenhowe Tower, Fogo Church. Berwick-on-Tweed, Kirk Yetholm and Town Yetholm, Coldstream, Carter Bar, Otterburn, Elsdon, Winter’s Gibbet, Wallington House, Thockrington Church, and a walk along Hadrian’s Wall from Steel Rigg to Crag Lough…..oh, and Talkin Tarn too near Brampton!

More pics to follow.......
