I woke up to heavy rain and it was windy too. Oh no, a walk round the shops at Holyhead in the rain I thought! By the time I had crossed the bridge onto Holy Island the rain had stopped and the sun had come out. I drove straight to the lighthouse, it was still early and I had the place to myself. It was still windy and there's no barriers or fences near those cliff edges. I hadn't decided to go in the actual lighthouse (I hadn't been since I was a nipper, and they had replaced the bouncy suspension bridge since!) but I made my way down each step taking photos as I went. Fortunately I didn't take as many pictures as there are steps (350!). When I got to the bridge between the two islands I decided to go all the way. I was told it was another 108 steps up a spiral staircase to the light at the top. Then I was told I was only halfway, and had to make the same amount of steps again back to the top of the cliff......it was worth it!
